The Kiwi Butcher Shop originally started life as Mc Cready's Butchery, a small retail shop built up on Brooklands Road in New Plymouth, back in 1954. It had a small open window display cabinet from which it sold goods to the people of nearby Vogeltown and Brooklands neighbourhoods....
Here at the shop we know your furry kids are part of the family too..... And you'd prefer to eat your steak in peace, rather than listen to the whimpers and look at the doe eyes just begging for a bite of what's on your plate!
There is a corner of our store dedicated for pups and cats and even birds as we now make bird feeders that you can hang in the yard to feed the birds over winter, made from 100% NZ Beef Fat.
Pies are a Kiwi staple. Some consider them to be a whole food - Readily eaten for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For some they are just a snack between meals! Whatever the case maybe, we know kiwi's are crazy about meat pies.
